Why Go
to Alaska?
We believe that we are sinners who are in
need of a savior (Romans 3:23, 6:23). and that
God sent Jesus Christ to die for our Sins
(Romans 5:8). Jesus is the only way for us to be
in relationship with God (John 14:6). Only when
we call on Jesus (put our trust in him) for our
salvation, can we be assured that we will spend
eternity with God (Romans 10:9-10).
That brings us to Alaska. We want to go to
Alaska to make it so that those who have not had
the opportunity to hear this message about
having a relationship with God, can hear it.
Radio is one way for people to hear about God's
love for us.
A 1996 Interact study showed that there were
over 100 villages in SW Alaska that did not have
a witness for Christ. SEND wants to reach these
people through sending people to these villages
to share Christ. They also can use Radio to
reach into these villages with teaching that
reflects the gospel message. They are calling
this initiative "100+, A voice in every
village." It stems from the previous initiative
called "105 in 5" in which they were trying to
recruit 105 missionaries in 5 years. This period
of time has come to a close, with about 60
missionaries recruited. The new 100+ initiative
takes over where this left off, still recruiting
more missionaries, but looking also to providing
the gospel message in many forms, including
radio, medicine, and leadership training. For
