Corey and April Emery are
missionary appointees with SEND International,
Farmington, Michigan. They are preparing for
Service in Alaska with the Northern Light
Network radio ministry.Corey came to be a
follower of Christ as a child through the
witness of his Sunday School teachers. April
also has had a relationship with Christ from
childhood, recommitting her life to Christ as a
teenager.
Corey graduated from Moody
Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois with a BA
in Educational Ministries in 1998. April
graduated with a BA in International Ministries
in 1997. They met and married during college in
1996. In 1999 Corey and April moved to Peoria,
Illinois. April was employed at Commerce Bank
in the Private Banking department, while Corey
pursued his interest in computers at a
consulting company called Netex. In May of 2002,
their first child, Alexander was born. The
Emery's decided that April would stay at home to
care for him, so she resigned her position at
the bank. Corey continued to work for the same
company, where he was promoted to Network
Engineer after achieving his MCSE certification.
The company was shortly thereafter acquired by
STL Technology Partners, where he stayed on as a
Network Engineer. In 2002, God worked through
the marriage of an old college friend from Moody
who serves with SEND to introduce Corey and
April to the work in Alaska. Corey was
especially interested in the ways in which
technology plays a part in radio. They committed
to going to Alaska to see the work. And in
September of 2004, they spent 2 weeks in
Petersberg, Alaska at KRSA. In November of 2004,
Jocelyn was born. The vision for Alaska remained
in Corey's heart and in 2005, Corey and April
followed God's lead to apply for service with
SEND International.
God has been preparing the
Emery's for service for a long time. First He
led them for training at Moody Bible Institute,
then through various functions in the church,
such as April's role in leading Women's
Ministries at Groveland Missionary Church. Corey
has served as a quiz coach and a Junior High
Sunday School teacher. Now they serve on the
missions committee. Corey will be joining the
staff of the Northern Light Network as a
Broadcast Engineer, ensuring that the signal of
the Gospel message over the airwaves is constant
and strong. He also will help to expand the
efforts of the Alaska radio ministries as
needed. April will be homeschooling their
children as well as taking part in the womens
ministry functions of the local church. With
God's leading just about anything is possible!
Corey and April need
ministry partners who will surround them with
prayer and contribute financially to SEND
International on their behalf. Would you
